In 1802 Napoleon Bonaparte summoned the finest Italian neoclassical sculptor, Antonio Canova, to Paris to do a series of sculptures of Napoleon. After Napoleon saw one of the pieces, a marble relief with him wearing a laurel crown, he commissioned this large version. Size. 64 x 31 x 25 cm.
