This was probably the largest Gambel Oak I have ever seen and it was sad to see it killed by fire but I’m glad I was able to recover the wood and make some beautiful pieces from it

WT #164, Hollow Form Vessel from Beetle Killed Ponderosa Pine with Malachite inlay. one 6” doameter x 6Hollow Form Vessel from Beetle Killed Ponderosa Pine with Malachite inlay, 11. 25 diameter x 17 tall with a 2. 5 opening and a buffed tung oil finish. This piece is oriented so that the pith runs horizontally through the center of the vessel. The spalting at the very top and bottom of the piece is where the fungal process took place in the sapwood of the tree leaving the golden colored heartwood portion unaffected.
