The fabric has been starched so it has a crispness to the pleats and carefully pattern matched gingham checks. The fabric cover sits snugly over the included inner lampshade (see photo 4) and is not permanently attached. The shade has a reversible gimbal so it can be used as either a table lampshade or ceiling
